MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network): The Department of Health on Sunday (Sept 19) logged 19,271 new Covid-19 cases bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,366,749.
This number accounts for 25.1 per cent of the total number of individuals tested at 70,571, the DOH said.
Meanwhile, the DOH reported a higher number of recoveries at 25,037, boosting the total number of recoveries to 2,151,765.
The number of active Covid-19 infections, on the other hand, is currently at 178,196 nationwide, which accounts for 7.5 per cent of the total number of infections.
Of the total number of Covid-19 patients, 92.3 per cent are classified as mild cases, 3.1 per cent are asymptomatic, 2.60 per cent are moderate, 1.4 per cent are severe, and 0.6 per cent are critical cases.
Two laboratories were not able to submit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System, the DOH said. These two laboratories contribute, on average, 0.7 per cent of the samples tested and 0.9 per cent of individuals who tested positive.
The DOH also recorded 205 new deaths, bringing the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 36,788.
The DOH added that 72 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 57 are recoveries.
“Moreover, 94 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.
The DOH also reported that 77 per cent of ICU beds, 67 per cent of isolation beds, 72 per cent of ward beds, and 56 per cent of ventilators are currently in use across the country during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Metro Manila, meanwhile, occupancy of ICU beds is currently at 77 per cent, isolation beds at 66 per cent, ward beds at 73 per cent while 61 per cent of available ventilators are also being used in the region, said the DOH.
