Cambodia confirms nine more deaths as Covid-19 cases keep rising in country

PHNOM PENH, June 12 (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): The Ministry of Health on Saturday reported another 638 Covid-19 cases, all but 44 of which were linked to the February 20 community outbreak.

The ministry also reported nine new deaths (bringing the total now at 320) and 605 recoveries.

As of June 12, Cambodia had recorded a total of 37, 959 Covid-19 cases with 31, 222 recoveries and 320 fatalities.

Cambodia on Friday confirmed 655 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the national tally to 37, 321, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

The new infections included 606 local cases and 49 imported cases, the MoH said.

Eleven more fatalities had been reported, bringing the death toll to 311, the ministry said, adding that 810 patients had recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 30, 617.

The South-East Asian nation launched a Covid-19 inoculation drive on Feb 10.

To date, some 2.8 million out of the 10 million targeted population have received the first COVID-19 vaccine dose, MoH's secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said, adding that 2.33 million of them have been fully vaccinated with two doses. - Phnom Penh Post/ANN
