A COVID-19-positive woman in Prey Veng province has successfully given birth to her baby with the timely help of medical professionals from the provincial health department.

According to the provincial information department, the 29-year-old woman had developed Covid-19 symptoms, including breathing difficulty and coughing, and had reached critical condition.

The woman did not show any sign of imminent labour but due to her serious condition, including swollen legs, the medical staff decided to carry out an operation to save her baby.

“The doctors decided to perform a Caesarean section at 10.40pm on June 4 and the operation was successful, delivering a healthy baby boy weighing 2.8kg.

“The mother is now under the utmost care,” the information department said. — The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
