Outbound travellers from Brunei required to vaccinate from August

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): With the consent of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has issued updates to the Exit-Travel Application Guidelines, requiring outbound travellers to obtain mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations.

The additional condition, which comes into effect on Aug 1, applies to citizens and residents working abroad, transport operators, foreign workers returning to their country of origin for the purpose of mandatory contract leave and returning again to Brunei Darussalam (on a valid employment pass or dependent’s pass), and anyone exiting the country for business and other essential travel.

Outbound travellers who wish to exit the country from the effective date onwards are required to obtain mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations, by booking slots in advance through the BruHealth application.

However, outbound travellers are reminded that their exit-travel applications will not be granted automatically, even after receiving the mandatory vaccination, as every exit-travel application is subject to evaluation and approval from the PMO.

Meanwhile, inbound travellers returning to Brunei Darussalam from foreign airports will be required to undergo mandatory self-isolation at their hotel accommodation for a period, as determined by the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) risk assessment.

For information and details, visit the PMO website at www.pmo.gov.bn/travelportal, or contact the Travel Applications hotline at 120, or e-mail travelapplication@jpm.gov.bn. - Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network
