Cambodia: 1 dead, 33 hospitalised after drinking tainted wine; woman arriving from US Covid-19 positive


PHNOM PENH, Nov 29 (Xinhua): One villager died and 33 others had been hospitalized in central Cambodia's Kampong Chhnang province on Saturday (Nov 27) after drinking locally-made rice wine, which was suspicious of containing high levels of methanol, Health Ministry's spokeswoman Or Vandine said.

The incident happened in a rural village in Teuk Pos district when the victims drank the tainted wine during the funeral of a villager who had died of drinking pond water contaminating with pesticide residues, she said.
