Laos burns 700kg of drugs seized to mark National Day; traffickers detained include 24 foreigners


LAOS, Oct 12 (Vientiane Times/ANN): Vientiane authorities on Saturday set fire to almost 700kg of illegal drugs seized during police raids around the country, in support of National Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking, which falls on October 12.

The event took place in Xoknoi village, Xaythany district, when 2,741kg of heroin, 152kg of amphetamines, 484.40kg of dried cannabis, 16kg of crystal methamphetamine, 3kg of cocaine, 19 grams of opium, 8 grams of tablets, 1,633kg of white powder, 173.3 grams of red powder and other narcotic substances went up in smoke.
