MANILA: A Philippine vlogger was shot dead while her partner was wounded Friday morning (July 17) after unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in Caloocan City in the northern Philippines, reported Xinhua quoting local media reports on Saturday.

Police said the victim died from a gunshot wound to the head, while her partner sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Investigators are looking into motorcycle-riding gunmen who fled the scene after the attack.

Authorities said a special investigation task group has been formed to identify and arrest the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the shooting.

Local media identified the victim as a vlogger known as "Mima Alicia" whose real name is Alicia Lipata. She was known for posting political commentary on social media. - Bernama-Xinhua
