BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Two individuals received a compound fine of BND100 each from the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) on Thursday (June 6) for improper trash disposal.

The individuals were seen disposing trash in the public area of Kampong Katok ‘B’ and the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge.

The department imposed the fines under Chapter 12(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.

Both have been given seven days to settle the fine. The failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.

If found guilty, a fine ranging from BND1,000 to BND3,000 will be issued for the first offence.

Subsequent offences may result in a fine between BND3,000 and BND9,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
