Maxis cuts prepaid broadband price by 50%

For students: Dushyan says Maxis is in the process of offering free WiFi access to universities.

Maxis has slashed the price of its prepaid broadband by 50% in a bid to fulfil the commitment it made to offer more affordable rates.

Its Hotlink Tablet Plan Simpack is now only RM30 instead of RM60. It comes with 1GB of data at longer validity and every 1GB add-on has been reduced to RM25. It has also introduced the 2GB data add-on at RM45.

“To further enhance this plan for students, Maxis will be providing free WiFi access at University campuses,” said Dushyan Vaithiyanathan, Maxis Bhd head of consumer business.

At this point the telco declined to say when it will be rolling it out its free service and to which universities.
