BUKIT MERTAJAM The Sessions Court here has acquitted a 25-year-old Nepali Nirmala Thapa of an abortion charge after the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against her.
Sessions judge M. Vijayalakshmi acquitted Nirmala of the charge under Section 315 of the Penal Code for an act done with the intent to prevent a child from being born alive or to cause it to die after birth at a government-approved clinic in Taman Ciku here Oct 9 last year.
