Muhyiddin: I will not resign as Umno deputy president

MUAR: Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix) has reiterated that he will not step down from his party position.

Selangor's Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Jamal Yunus was among several Umno leaders who had called on Muhyiddin to resign from the number two post.

Muhyiddin expressed his disappointment at some party members who accused him of being a traitor, while others had withdrawn their invitation for him to open party meetings.

"Not satisfied that I have been dropped as a minister, some of them even wanted me detained," he said.

Muhyiddin, the Pagoh MP, stressed that people should not see him as a threat to the country as he does not have intentions of toppling the Government.

He hoped Umno would continue to stand strong and be the pillar of harmony to the nation.

"I have accepted what Allah has planned. I have done my best for the Government and the people. I have also said what I believe is the truth. I have given views because I am not a 'yes man'," he added.

Muhyiddin urged all parties to let the institutions investigate the 1MBD issue without external disturbance or pressure as it could affect its outcome.

"Don't disturb Bank Negara, Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission and don't disturb the Attorney General during investigations.

"Let them do their jobs (freely and transparently). We want to see the true outcome of the investigation," he said.
