Part-time model stripping case on Aug 10

KUALA LUMPUR: The Magistrate's court set Aug 10 to mention the case of Persana Avril Sollunda, the part-time model who was charged with committing an obscene act by stripping in public in Petaling Street.

The case was to be heard before Magistrate Nur ‘Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor on Monday but deputy public prosecutor Noor Svetlana Mohd Noor Nordin said they have yet to receive Sollunda’s mental health report from Hospital Bahagia in Perak.

Sollunda, 33, was only released from the psychiatric hospital last Friday.

Clad in a brown coat and high-cut leather boots with her hair dyed blonde, Sollunda arrived at the courtroom alone and was later joined by her brother Peter Alvin.

When asked if she wanted to be interviewed, her lawyer, Kevin Tan, told reporters that she did not want to be disturbed. Tan took over the case from her previous lawyer, Muhammad Nor Izzat Nordin.

Sollunda underwent a month-long psychiatric evaluation under section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code on May 29, which was extended for another month.

Sollunda had pleaded not guilty on April 28 to committing an obscene act in public under Section 294 of the Penal Code.

She was alleged to have stripped off her clothes after failing to settle a bill of about RM18 at a chicken rice shop in Petaling Street.

A video of her removing her shirt and bra went viral on social media.

Sollunda was detained on April 25 following a report of public indecency under section 509 of the Penal Code.
