Smooth process: Chua speaking during an earlier GST briefing in Arau, Perlis.

PUTRAJAYA: Sessions to help small and medium-sized businesses with their Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns filling will be held around the country beginning this month.

The sessions will be held in two stages at 42 Customs offices.

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Chua Tee Yong said the first stage would be held between June 8 and 12 and the second, from June 22 to July 3.

Exact locations and dates of these sessions are available on the Customs Department website.

“We expect many such businesses to encounter some problems as this will be the first time for them filing their GST returns. Please come so that we can provide guidance,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Chua said about 74,300 businesses were expected to file their GST returns for June and another 347,000 businesses in July, adding that it was important to ensure a smooth process.

“We will help them with the calculation and how to make payment – whether via online or manually,” he said.
