Teenager claims he was sexually assaulted at Subang gym


PETALING JAYA: A 17-year-old boy claimed he was sexually assaulted at a popular gym's sauna by two men on Tuesday evening.

According to the victim's family's spokesman Gan Wee Yet, the incident occurred at about 4.30pm at Fitness First gym at Menara Summit, Subang. 

"Two men came into the sauna and approached him in close proximity and started to molest him,” Gan told The Star Online on Friday. One of the suspects performed oral sex on the teenager.

"The family has since lodged a police report at USJ 8 and are liaising with the authorities and Fitness First to help with the investigation," said Gan.

According to Gan, he was told that police had remanded one suspect who had yet to be charged. The other suspect has yet to be remanded.

The family of the victim has urged the public to respect their privacy and to let the police investigate the incident. 

Fitness First said in a statement on Thursday that they were facilitating investigation into the case.

"In response to a query regarding the police report on an alleged sexual assault at Fitness First Malaysia Menara Summit on Tuesday, a club spokesperson said that they are taking the matter very seriously and are working closely with the authorities in the investigation," it said.

"Fitness First Malaysia assures the parties and families involved that the club will act in accordance with the law and club rules once investigations are complete and an official conclusion has been reached," it added.

Fitness First also urged the public to obtain substantiated information on the matter from authorised sources. “Fitness First Malaysia has always strived for a safe and conducive environment for all members in their fitness journey."
