A 10-YEAR-OLD boy was caned 14 times for not completing his mathematics test in time at the SJK(T) Bekoh, near Segamat, on Sunday, Malaysia Nanban reported.

His father, M. Shanmugam said Jayarajoo, following the punishment, suffered a swollen shoulder and had cuts on his back.

He lodged a report with the Segamat district education office on Sunday that his son, who has speech problems, had difficulty in answering 15 questions in five minutes.

Shanmugam claimed the boy’s teacher refused to speak to him while the headmaster said he was unable to take action against the teacher.

> It’s believed among Hindus that Lord Venkateswara – also refered to as Balaji – showers different kinds of miracles on ardent devotees.

On Saturday, the “Lord of Miracles” made an 18-year-old youth speak for the first time in his life.

This happened after he sipped the holy water offered to him by a priest at the Vakulamatha temple, one of the sub-temples of the Tirumala temple in Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nesan reported.

His first word, to the astonishment of his mother, Prathima, and family members, was amma (mother). Pratima attributed her son’s speech to Balaji’s miracle.
