KLANG: Members of the media flocked to the palace after an anonymous tip that Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim (pic) would be seeking an audience with Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to hand in his resignation letter on Monday.

However, when contacted one of Khalid's aides said these reports were untrue.

This view was echoed by palace sources.

Journalists waited outside both Istana Kayangan and Istana Mestika in Shah Alam since the early hours of the morning after the rumour that Khalid, who has served as MB since March 2008, would be caving in to pressure from members of his own party, Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

Khalid who has stated that he intends to step down at the end of his current term, has come under immense pressure to hasten his departure.
