PETALING JAYA: The air quality in the country has improved with the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings between 17 and 85 on Sunday.
As of 8am, Nilai recorded the highest reading at 85 followed by Port Klang at 84, according to the Department of Environment's website.
Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya also recorded moderate readings with API of 75 and 74 respectively.
Most areas in Sabah, Sarawak and the east coast of the peninsula recorded improved readings with Sarikei (17), SMK Tanjung Chat in Kota Baru (75) and Kuala Terengganu (73).
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is considered good; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; and 301 and above, hazardous.
