SUNGAI BULOH: An unemployed man is believed to have shot to death a 25-year-old man after an argument at a temple near here on Saturday.
The suspect also allegedly wounded a 24-year-old man in the incident at the Sri Vinaygar Temple at Kg Ladang Baru Sg Pelong, Jln Lobak, Kuang.
Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Junaidi Bujang said they first received information of the shooting at around 7.45pm on Saturday.
"The 25-year-old deceased who did not have a record was shot in the head and waist.
"The other victim had a prior record for armed robbery and house break-ins," he said, adding that the victim suffered two shots to the stomach.
He said the incident occurred during a prayer session attended by more than 30 people, mostly women.
"We managed to collect two bullet casings at the scene when we arrived.
"The two men were taken to the Sungai Buloh Hospital by family members when we arrived," he said.
Supt Junaidi said he believed that the incident was triggered due to an argument between the deceased and the suspect during prayers.
"The suspect was disturbed by the two victims and a group of men.
"A scuffle ensued, and the suspect shot the two men before fleeing the scene in a Mitsubishi Pajero," he said, adding that the man was believed to be unemployed and in his 40s, known only as Kannan @ Thundercat.
He said police were now working to trace the whereabouts of the suspect to help in police investigations.
"The deceased has been identified as Vijendran Mohan @ Takali, 25," he said, adding that the case was classified as murder.
