Sarawak boat capsize: A son’s last call to his father


Their bodies had been claimed by the family members from Daro Hospital and later buried in their village in Kampung Tekajong on Sunday.

The others still missing are Borhan Berdan, 65, Medini Akim, 55, Abu Bakar Mahli, 62, Kalsum Mat, 50, Ibong Rais,60 and Nursiah Abdullah,40, 16 other passengers of the boat managed to swim to safety after the
boat overturned and capsized.

They were on their way back after attending a wedding in Kampung Saei when the tragedy occurred.

Speaking with teary eyes to newsmen at the Operation Centre in Kampung Saei, Mahidi, 30, said in his last conversation with his father hours before the tragedy was that he was told by him to "Take good care of the family and to work diligently with my company."

"I had just clocked in to start his afternoon shift when I received a call at about 2.45pm from a friend in our village.
