Resort returns Hawksbill turtle to the sea

Reascued and returned: The Hawksbill turtle making his way back home at Gaya Island Resort.

KOTA KINABALU: While most people celebrate Merdeka Day flying the Jalur Gemilang and participating in all sorts of patriotism-related activities, Gaya Island Resort not far from the city here took a different touch to the celebration.

Its staff and marine researchers took the word “Merdeka” literally and freed a trapped male Hawksbill Turtle that was rescued by fishermen recently.
