Light aircraft makes emergency landing near Port Klang

PETALING JAYA: A light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing near Port Klang.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said that the Piper PA-28-161 aircraft made the landing at an open space near Port Klang on Thursday (June 27).

"The aircraft departed from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport at 2.50pm, carrying two passengers, and a Mayday call was received by the Subang Control Tower at 2.58pm," it said in a statement on Thursday.

It added that its Kuala Lumpur Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (KLARCC) has been activated at 3.10pm to coordinate rescue operations.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said that the aircraft made an emergency landing at a field nearby Bandar Sultan Suleiman.

He added that responding firefighters at the scene inspected the plane and found no signs of a fire.

"The pilot Rolando Barba Jr and pilot trainer Muhammad Ridz Farhan Ridzwan are safe," he said.
