Cops on the hunt for killer after gruesome budget hotel murder

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are on the hunt for a man who is believed to be responsible for a gruesome murder at a budget hotel here.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman said this in a statement following the discovery of a woman’s bloodied body at a budget hotel in Kg Baru at around 1.35pm on Tuesday.

"Early investigations show that the victim checked into the hotel with two men, believed to be foreigners, at around 9am. One of them entered the room with her while the other left the hotel," he said.

The man later emerged from the room and left the hotel as well.

"Believing no one would be returning, housekeeping personnel entered the room only to find the victim in a pool of blood," ACP Mohd Sukri said, adding that police are determining the victim's identity.

He said one of the men was arrested in Chow Kit at 4pm while another suspect is on the loose.

Both suspects are in their 20s.

A police forensics team also found that the woman was stabbed and that the left side of her neck was slashed.

The body was later brought to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem.

Police are investigating the case as murder and are calling for anyone who has information to contact the Dang Wangi police control centre at 03 2697 7099 or any nearby police station.
