IPOH: Three foreign students have been arrested in connection with the death of a 53-year-old local man at Kampung Kuchai here.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah said that police received a report about the incident on Friday (Sept 18).
“The victim was found by the public lying injured in an open area with injuries to his face.
“A post-mortem found that the cause of death was blunt trauma to the head,” he said in a statement Wednesday (Sept 23).
ACP Muhammad Najib said that the victim was taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for further treatment.
He added that the victim received treatment at the hospital for several days before he was pronounced dead at about 6.42pm on Tuesday (Sept 22).
He added that the three foreign nationals, aged between 17 and 20 years old, are students at a private higher education institution here.
“They were arrested this morning at their accommodation in an apartment,” he said.
He added that the relationship between the victim and the three students is still under investigation.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“Police are still conducting further investigations to determine the actual motive behind the incident,” he said.
