Haze: All schools in Serian to close temporarily on Sept 24

KUCHING: All schools in the Serian district will be temporarily closed on Thursday (Sept 24) following worsening haze conditions that have affected air quality in the area.

The Sarawak Education Department said the decision was made after the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in the district exceeded 201 on Wednesday (Sept 23) night.

The closure involves 108 schools, with home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) to be implemented throughout the period.

"During the temporary closure period, PdPR will be carried out," the department said in a statement Wednesday

The Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal recorded an API reading of 217 in Serian as of 10pm Wednesday. - Bernama
