BANGI: About 1,000 students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jalan Tiga, Bandar Baru Bangi here sent postcards with inspiring wishes to 2016 FIFA Puskas Award winner Mohd Faiz Subri.

The Form Three to Form Five students brought their postcards, mostly handmade, and attached stamps bought from Pos Malaysia Bhd representatives who were at the school.

They addressed the postcards to the Penang Football Association, No 9, Jalan Scotland, 10450, Penang.

The “To Faiz Subri With Love, Thank You Mr Postman” programme was organised by the school’s English Language Panel and Parent Teacher Association.

English teacher Nurul Azilah Mohd Saad, 47, said she decided to organise the programme after realising that some of her students did not know about postcards.

“It is a good programme for the students who are so engrossed with the Internet but have no idea or experience about using the postal services,” she added.

Form Five student Tan Seong Chai, 17, wrote on his postcard of his wish to see more fantastic goals from Faiz.

Zara Qistina Badrulhisham, 17, who collects postcards, said she made her own card to be sent to the footballer.

Kedah-born Penang player Faiz drew global attention for his memorable free kick during a match against Pahang in a Super League match in February last year.

He also made history as the first Asian player to win the award named after football legend Ferenc Puskas of Hungary. — Bernama
