PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia and Cambodia are working to conclude negotiations for an agreement on tackling human trafficking.
This was among issues discussed during a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen on Friday.
“We have agreed for this to be concluded soon and have tasked the Ministry of Women Affairs of Cambodia and our Home Ministry to expedite the negotiations for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding,” said Najib.
An agreement on double taxation is also in the works, with both countries agreeing to explore many areas of cooperation in the field of education including programme exchange for scholars, teachers, experts and students.
Malaysia and Cambodia are also prepared to renew their cooperation in tourism with the aim to further enhance the understanding between people and boost economic development of both countries.
The Prime Minister also voiced Malaysia's preparedness to share experiences and expertise in the halal industry.
Hun Sen is on a four-day official visit to Malaysia and attend the World Economic Forum on Asean.
