JOHOR BARU: The Government’s housing scheme MyDeposit has received overwhelming response from the public with more than 6,000 online registrations since its launch.
Deputy Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said the encouraging response showed that the people were eager to own their first home.
She said the scheme was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on April 6 with the main focus of helping the target group.
“The Government has allocated RM200mil under the scheme to help those with a household income of between RM3,000 and RM10,000 to own their first house.
“The public can register online at the National Housing Department website until June 30 and I hope the people will make full use of it,” she said.
Halimah, who is also the Tenggara MP, said this after presenting offer letters under the MyHome programme to recipients at Bandar Dato Onn here yesterday.
Under the scheme, a contribution of 10% from the sale price, or a maximum of RM30,000 (whichever is lower), will be given to first-time buyers looking for homes priced below RM500,000.
Halimah said the Government, through the ministry, urged developers to build more houses priced at RM300,000 for Malaysians.
