Maxis increases data quotas

PETALING JAYA: Maxis Berhad has increased data quotas for all its MaxisOne customers.

Maxis CEO Morten Lundal (pic) said on Friday that the company had recently been flooded with "negative opinions" at their call centres and on social media.

"Of course this has concerned us," he said, adding that Maxis was always been focused on offering "unique products that excite people".

"Recently, the market has moved on and there is a focus on providing more data.

"We have been preparing our own offerings but we have taken too much time because we wanted to add more great features than more data ," said Lundal.

He added that some individual Maxis customers had recently been offered tailored plans.

"This has angered some of you and it also doesn't fit with our company's commitment to fairness and transparency," he said.

Lundal apologised for the company's late response to and uneven treatment of its customers.

Maxis also announced its plan to automatically upgrade all of their MaxisOne plan customers to higher data quotas without any additional cost.

He said that for example, MaxisOne customers with 1GB of data would be getting 5GB of data, while customers with a quota of 3GB will be upgraded to 8GB.

The benefits will not just be limited to new customers but also to all existing Maxis customers, while MaxisOne business customers will also benefit from these upgrades.

In addition to the quota upgrades, Maxis said that it would be announcing further innovations that would enable customers to do more with their data.

The company, however, said that the upgrades would only be available later this month but that 3GB of free data would be available from next week.

"We remain focused on our priorities, having the best network, great customer service and great value. And we would be even better and quicker to deliver on these.

"Now with our new plans, there has never been a better time to be with Maxis," said Lundal.
