16 religious leaders banned from giving talks in Johor

The Johor state government confirmed its ban on 16 religious preachers, preventing them from making statements against Sunni Islam and causing confusion.

Johor Religious Affairs Committee chairman Abd Mutalip Abd Rahim said a circular has been issued on the matter.

Among those named were Umno Youth exco member Fathul Bari Mat Jahya and other preachers, such as Rasul Dahari, Fadhlan Othman and Dr Abu Anas Madani.

Abdul Mutalip also said that outsiders should not question the state's religious enactment.

Woman donates bone marrow to save two children

An Iban woman put aside racial differences to donate her bone marrow to two children suffering from a rare genetic disorder, Hunter Syndrome.

Gloria Tinggi from Samarahan, Sarawak, said she wanted to help Ahmad Adam Sharin, seven, and Muhammad Arman Shahrin, three, after reading about their plight in the news recently.

"I have been preparing to donate my bone marrow since last year but did not have the chance to do so. There's nothing to be afraid of because I am used to donating blood every three months," she said.

The woman said she was hoping to meet the doctors as soon as possible to get more information about the surgical procedure.

It was reported that the children have been going back and forth to University Malaya Medical Centre for treatment. The disease causes various health problems.
