Asia is first stop for wine authority.
LEADING wine authority Robert Parker Jr. is hitting the road this year for his first-ever world wine tour, hosting masterclass tastings and gala dinners for oenophiles throughout Asia, the US and Europe.
The founder of the influential Wine Advocate will make Asia his first stop, where Parker and members of his review team will host events at posh hotel chains like the Four Seasons and Shangri-La across Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
But the privilege of partaking in a tasting and black tie dinner with the wine expert doesn’t come cheap, as tickets start at US$400 (RM1,312) and go up to US$1,248 (RM4,092).
Guests who sign up for “A Taste of Greatness” masterclass can expect to sip, swish and spit with rare and top wines curated by Parker. Each class will encompass a different theme.
In March in Singapore, for example, Parker will present a masterclass themed after the iconic wines of Piedmont, Italy.
Likewise, the Gala Hedonist’s Dinner scheduled in Malaysia also in March will centre around the “Great Cabernet Sauvignons of the World”, featuring wines from Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Penfolds Bin. The black-tie events are designed to highlight iconic wines and stellar vintages.
The tour will also extend to the US and Europe throughout the year. Dates for these have yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Wine Spectator magazine is hosting a wine tour in the US this spring, featuring 200 wines at events in New York, Las Vegas and Washington DC at US$225 (RM738).
