Warner Bros Television and the Southfork Bottling Company have teamed up to launch J.R. Ewing Bourbon.
The spirit, made in conjunction with the current show’s third season, will hit stores next month.

In celebration of the Season 3 premiere of TNT’s Dallas on Feb 24 in the United States, Warner Bros Television and the Southfork Bottling Company have teamed up to launch J.R. Ewing Bourbon, which will hit spirit retailers’ shelves at the end of March. Just in time to tempt poor Sue Ellen, at a very vulnerable time during her long struggle with the demon alcohol.
As Dallas fans will recall, at the end of Season 2 of Dallas, Sue Ellen (played by Linda Gray), grief-stricken by the death of her ex J.R. Ewing, bids adieu to the wagon and once again seeks the warm, bleary-eyed embrace of the bottle.
And now, the struggling dipsomaniac will have to contend with one more temptation – put in place by the studio of her own series, no less.
For those with more control over their alcohol intake, J.R. Ewing Bourbon is a four-year-old, 80-proof bourbon that’s “well balanced and possesses a maturity that adds to its complexity,” according to a press release issued this week.
“The nose is classic and slightly fruity, with notes of vanilla, oak sweetness and a touch of orange,” the release promises (close your eyes, Sue Ellen). “The taste profile is surprisingly mild, yet crisp, and exhibits a lightly spicy/honey taste that lingers on the palate.”
The spirit will initially launch in 14 states in the South and Midwest of the US, with plans for a national and eventually an international expansion.
“It’s exciting to have the show and J.R.’s legacy, represented to the public in a new way,” Dallas executive producer and writer Cynthia Cidre said. “Plus, it gives the fans one more reason to celebrate Dallas!” And Sue Ellen Ewing one more reason to seek help as soon as possible. — Reuters
