It doesn't seem like too long ago when the need for antivirus software for Android devices was heavily debated. The argument was that there were no real threats to the Android operating system (OS) that warranted the need for RAM-hogging and battery-depleting anti-virus software.
Unfortunately, the same can't be said about the ecosystem now. With the growth that the Android OS has been able to achieve thus far, it is not a surprise that cybercriminals and hackers have begun shifting their attention to exploiting Android devices and their users.
