PETALING JAYA: The National Cyber Security Agency (Nacsa) says it is aware of cybersecurity incidents involving several financial institutions and is working closely with the related parties to monitor developments.

The National Cyber Coordination and Control Centre (NC4) is also currently monitoring the country’s cybersecurity situation following recent incidents, according to a statement to StarLifestyle from the National Security Council under the Prime Minister’s Department (MKN JPM).

The agency further states that the National Cyber Security Threat Level is maintained at a Medium. On Wednesday (Nov 4), the level was raised from Low to Medium.

Nacsa stresses that the current cybersecurity situation is under control, adding that it is also working with sector leads and National Critical Information Infrastructure (NCII) entities to ensure that threats are detected and addressed, while ensuring that critical services operate smoothly.

The public is urged not to believe or spread unverified allegations regarding cyber attacks, including those shared on social media.

The statement also instructs the public to always refer to official government, financial institutions, and Bank Rakyat channels for verified information. Updates on new developments will also be shared via official MKN JPM channels.
