PETALING JAYA: The MyDigital ID app has added support for the latest version of the MyKad, following a brief period when registration using the next-generation identification card was not available.
Support for the new MyKad was added via an update to the Google Play version of the MyDigital ID app.
It is worth noting that existing MyDigital ID users with an active certificate will not need to register again or take any action until its expiry.
Android users with the latest MyKad who are looking to register a new MyDigital ID account should check if their app is version 2.10.0, and update it if necessary.
According to the patch notes, the new version also introduces a new streamlined ID type selection screen, improved name matching for more consistent identity verification, along with performance improvements and bug fixes.
The iOS and Huawei store versions of the app have not yet received the update, with MyDigital ID stating via a post to its Facebook page that it will notify users once it is available.
The next-generation MyKad was unveiled in mid-September, featuring a refreshed design and touting over 50 new security features.
