LONDON: Aston Martin has gone all rough and tough with the revealing of its digital ‘Dreadnought’ military vehicle.
The one-off fictional creation has been designed to feature in the latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 gaming series and is a collaboration between Aston Martin and the war game’s developers and publishers, Infinity Ward and Activision.
The Dreadnought’s body is made from carbon fibre and finished off in the famous Aston Martin Chiltern Green paint shade.
To make it a hardcore off-roader, the Dreadnought is equipped with a tactical all-wheel drive system, while big, chunky tyres deliver enhanced grip on rough surfaces. Its high ground clearance makes it easier to wade through water.
Powering the car is Aston’s iconic V12 engine, though the firm has not revealed detailed performance-related figures at this stage.
Inside, the cabin is dominated by Oxford Tan leather which is found on the door cards, dashboard, steering wheel and seat upholstery. The instrument cluster consists of two circular pods that feature a digital rev counter and speedometer, while there is a digital auxiliary gauge cluster that runs across the dashboard and displays key information such as tyre pressure, drive modes and a compass.
Although intended as a work of fiction, Aston Martin has built a full-size model of the car and it is currently on display at this year’s Fanatics Fest in New York. It will also be a playable vehicle in the latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 game from October 23. – dpa
