Rewards programme provider ShopBack has announced that its payment service, ShopBack Pay, will no longer be available in Malaysia from March 25.

On a support page on its website, ShopBack says the move will affect both in-store QR payments and online transactions made through the app, with retailers no longer accepting the payment method after the cut-off date.

The payment method will also be removed from the app.

Customers who used ShopBack Pay in-store before March 2 will still be eligible for their Return Cashback. However, any purchases made from that date onwards will no longer be eligible for any additional loyalty rewards.

"ShopBack regularly reviews our product portfolio to prioritise investments that deliver the greatest value. Following this review, we are reallocating investment to areas of the ShopBack platform that best serve partners and customers in Malaysia.

"We prioritise products that can reliably scale impact and will continue to pilot new approaches, scaling only those that demonstrably create value.

"All other ShopBack services remain fully available. We remain deeply committed to supporting our customers in Malaysia, and to growing our broader Cashback and rewards ecosystem," it says.

This comes after the platform had previously discontinued its ShopBack PayLater financing service in 2024.
