Malaysian users are reporting login issues with WhatsApp, with outage tracking platform DownDetector receiving a spike in reports on the issue starting from around 9am today (Feb 27).
DownDetector has received several hundred reports since users first started experiencing login issues.
The issue appears to be affecting WhatsApp users around the world, with Statusgator and Down for Everyone or Just Me, other outage trackers, receiving reports from users in countries like India, Brazil, Singapore, Australia, the United States and the Philippines.
In testing by StarLifestyle, the issue appears to occur when logging in to more than one Companion Device. When only the main device and a single Companion Device are connected, the app functions as expected, and the login proceeds normally.
However, when attempting to log in to a second Companion Device, the app automatically logs out all other Companion Devices. The main account remains unaffected.
As of the time of writing, no official statement from WhatsApp on the issue has been released.
