Social media users says app glitch has them seeing the same videos again and again

TikTok users across the platform are experiencing problems with their personalised feeds, with many reporting they are seeing previously viewed videos instead of fresh content, according to Parade.

Social media journalist Aaron Parnas highlighted the issue in a video posted last Sunday, describing his “For You Page” as “completely messed up” with videos from months or years ago appearing in his feed.

Parnas said his curated page was not showing the content he wanted to see. Multiple users reported similar problems in the comments.

One user said they were seeing videos from previous months that they had already liked, while another described seeing content they had previously liked, bookmarked, or reposted.

The timing of the glitch has prompted some speculation about a potential connection to recent corporate changes at TikTok. Parnas suggested the issues might be related to a recently signed deal, noting “lots of weird stuff happening on this app.”

On Friday, TikTok CEO Shou Chew sent an internal memo announcing the company had signed agreements with investors for a new TikTok US joint venture, according to CNN. Chew said the arrangement would allow more than 170 million Americans to continue using the platform. The deal involves a US investor group that includes Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX.

TikTok has not officially confirmed the cause of the algorithm problems. Influencer Randa Rosa expressed frustration with the changes, questioning why her feed was showing only previously viewed or liked content. – cleveland.com/Tribune News Service
