Malaysian Nintendo fans will be happy to hear that the video game giant has finally officially launched both its eShop and online subscription service in the country today (Nov 18), allowing local gamers to purchase games and pay for their monthly subscriptions in ringgit.

As the name suggest, the eShop is the Japanese company's digital storefront for video game releases and downloadable content (DLC). Gamers are also able to download free demos from the platform to try out before purchase.

Launching alongside the eShop is the Nintendo Switch Online membership subscription plan, which enables online play for supported titles on the Switch and Switch 2 platforms.

Titles supporting online play include releases such as Splatoon 3, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart World and Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Subscriptions to Nintendo Switch Online also includes access to a selection of the company's library of classic titles, encompassing games from consoles like the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, and Nintendo Entertainment System.

Other features include cloud backups for game save data, the ability to listen to game music via a mobile app, access to paid-DLC for supported game, along with in-game items. — NintendoOther features include cloud backups for game save data, the ability to listen to game music via a mobile app, access to paid-DLC for supported game, along with in-game items. — Nintendo

There's also the option to get the Expansion Pack, which adds games from the GameCube (exclusive to the Switch 2), Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64.

Switch 2 owners will further be able to use the new GameChat feature with their Nintendo Switch Online subscription, giving them the ability to communicate using voice chat and share their gameplay screen with other players.

Nintendo Switch Online is priced at RM13 a month, RM33 for three months (90 days), and RM89 for a year (365 days). There is also the option to get a family plan, which has a yearly fee of RM169 and supports up to eight members.

The Switch Online and Expansion Pack plan on the other hand is only available via a one year plan priced at RM179. This also has a family option, which costs RM319 a year.
