KUALA LUMPUR: The government has assured that the system used to implement the RON95 petrol subsidy under the Budi MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative is secure against cyber threats, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

He said the cybersecurity aspect of the system had been thoroughly studied to ensure its effectiveness, taking into account various potential risks.

"What we have implemented is a system that has already considered such possibilities. It is safe for us to proceed for now, and this aspect has been carefully assessed.

"The Prime Minister has always prioritised security in all aspects of digitalisation, and the same applies to BUDI95. Security has been given special attention, and the existing system is well prepared for all eventualities,” he told reporters at a press conference today.

Meanwhile, Gobind announced that the Digital Trust and Data Security Strategy 2026-2030, drafted in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia and the National Digital Department, will be launched by year-end.

He said the strategy will outline measures to strengthen cybersecurity and build user confidence for the 2026-2030 period.

"So I hope we can launch the document before year-end, allowing us to see, understand and implement our future work, especially in building digital trust," he added. – Bernama
