(Reuters) - An outage affecting thousands of users of social media platform Reddit in the U.S. had eased after a brief downtime on Monday, according to tracking website Downdetector.com.

There were nearly 650 incidents of people reporting issues with the platform as of 5.40 p.m. ET compared with over 21,000 reports earlier, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources.

Reddit did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
