PlayStation Plus prices to increase April 16 due to 'global market conditions'

Sony has announced that it will adjusting the local prices for its online subscription service PlayStation Plus, citing challenges due to global market conditions.

"Like many businesses around the world, we continue to be impacted by global market conditions and will be adjusting our local prices for PlayStation Plus.

"This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service," the company said in a post on PlayStation.blog.

From April 16, PlayStation Plus Essential subscription will cost RM35 for a one month subscription (originally RM32), RM95 for a three-month plan (RM75) and RM285 for a 12-month plan (RM235).

For PlayStation Plus Extra, customers will have to pay RM55 for a one month subscription (originally RM49), RM155 for a three-month plan (RM125) and RM490 for 12-month plan (RM400).

For PlayStation Plus Deluxe, the price will be RM65 for a one month subscription (originally RM55), RM185 for a three-month plan (RM145) and RM575 for a 12-month plan (RM460).

"For current subscribers, the price change will not take effect until your next billing date that occurs on or after June 24. However, any membership changes you make on or after April 16, such as upgrades, downgrades or adding additional time, will reflect the new prices," the company said, adding that subscribers can make changes to their plan at any time with more details available here.

The new price adjustment will also affect subscribers in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

Sony previously announced a price hike for PlayStation Plus back in 2023.

PlayStation Plus is a subscription service offering users additional features like online multiplayer, exclusive content, discounts as well as cloud storage and access to a game catalogue.
