How AI and WhatsApp are helping football clubs

Professionals in the football world have an AI-powered analytics tool at their disposal, enabling them to obtain full reports on any player in a very simple way and via a widely used messaging platform.

Earpiece, developed by Swedish startup Twelve Football, is an artificial intelligence-based football analysis tool accessible via WhatsApp. It gives professionals (managers, coaches, scouts, etc) access to comprehensive player analysis and reports, in the form of relatively simple messages sent via instant messaging.

In fact, this tool transforms a multitude of complex data into clear, rapidly usable information. Users simply send a message with a player's name, eg, "Tell me about Jude Bellingham,” and instantly receive a detailed report on his current form. This text, generated by AI in natural language, highlights the player's strengths and weaknesses. It's much easier to navigate than a complex dashboard.

Beyond that, it's also possible to compare players and, even more interestingly, identify profiles corresponding to specific needs, which can, if necessary, facilitate transfers. For example, a recruiter could ask: "Who are the best under-21 midfielders in the Premier League?” and obtain a list of players matching the criteria, along with their up-to-date statistics. A coach, meanwhile, can assess the form of their own players.

Today, Earpiece already covers some 300 competitions (men's and women's) worldwide, with data spanning several seasons. The solution has also been adopted by several football professionals, notably in the top five European leagues.

In the end, this solution appears to be a veritable virtual assistant, accessible via a universal application. Its great strength, therefore, lies in its ease of access via WhatsApp, in addition to its AI-synthesized analyses, which helps save time and speed up decision-making. – AFP Relaxnews
