French woman faces cyberbullying after falling for fake Brad Pitt

Using fake social media and WhatsApp accounts, as well as AI image-creating technology, scammers sent Anne what appeared to be selfies and messages from Pitt, while pretending that the actor needed money to because his bank accounts were supposedly frozen due to his then ongoing divorce from Jolie. — AP

PARIS: A French woman who revealed on television how she had lost her life savings to scammers posing as Brad Pitt, has faced a wave of online harassment and mockery, leading the interview to be withdrawn on Jan 14.

The woman, named as Anne, told the Seven To Eight programme on the TF1 channel that she had believed she was in a romantic relationship with the Hollywood star, leading her to divorce her husband and transfer €830,000 (RM3.85mil or US$850,000).
