Grok will soon be available free to all X users

X’s AI assistant, previously available only to the social network's premium subscribers, will gradually be made available, free of charge, to all users. For the time being, only X users in the US can try out Grok, but it should roll out to all users in the near future.

Grok was launched in 2023 by xAI, aiming to stand out from the competition with its wittier, more sarcastic tone. Directly integrated into X, it was previously only available to the social network's paying subscribers.

By being accessible to the largest possible number of users, ie, nearly 500 million worldwide, the idea is to position Grok as a credible alternative to other conversational AI agents such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google Gemini or Microsoft Copilot.

All of these solutions have become increasingly popular with the general public in recent months.

Its integration with X gives Grok direct access to the social network's information, providing up-to-date, contextual responses (but watch out for fake news). As well as being able to search for information on X, Grok is also capable of creating content, whether text (for posting on the network or for writing an email, for example) or images (from text descriptions). Last but not least, it offers a significant assistance for programming.

To access it, simply click on the corresponding icon, prominently displayed on both the website and the mobile application. Note that the name “Grok” comes from the science-fiction novel Stranger In A Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein, where it refers to a form of deep, intuitive understanding. – AFP Relaxnews
