Amidst global calls for safer online environments for children, the Malaysian government has been taking significant steps.

Communications Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching stated in May that the forthcoming Online Safety Bill, scheduled for tabling this month, supports the government’s move to require social media platform operators to obtain licences to operate within the country and to establish standard operating procedures for collaborating with local authorities.
