NAY PYI TAW: Deputy Minister for Digital Development and Communications U Thet Win Aung said internet service providers that fail to deliver services despite holding telecommunications licences will face legal action if users file complaints.
The Deputy Minister made the remarks on July 24, during the 29th day of the Second Regular Session of the Third Pyithu Hluttaw, while responding to a starred question raised by U Aye Chan, MP for Hlaingthayar (East) Constituency, regarding the performance evaluation of internet service providers and action against companies that fail to meet their contractual service obligations.
He said users experiencing internet service disruptions should first report the issue to their service provider. If the provider fails to resolve the problem or continues to fail to deliver the service, users may lodge complaints with the relevant authorities, which will take effective action in accordance with the law.
Consumers can submit complaints to the Posts and Telecommunications Department (PTD) via complaint@ptd.gov.mm or contact the Consumer Affairs Department's Consumer Call Centre by dialling 1535.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Consumer Affairs Department received a total of 2,200 telecommunications service complaints between 2017 and July 20, 2026. Of these, 2,192 cases have been successfully resolved, while the remaining eight are still under review. - Eleven News/ANN
