ISLAMABAD: Police in Pakistan’s central Punjab province are searching for a 19-year-old girl who allegedly shot and killed her younger sister while filming a TikTok video.

The incident took place in a small village in Gujrat district of Punjab on Friday and the matter was initially hushed up by the family.

According to details, the 19-year-old elder sister argued with her 14-year-old sister for shooting a TikTok video. The family took the girl to hospital but she succumbed to the fatal shot on her neck.

“It looks as if it (shooting) was an accident but it would be too early to conclude,” Muhammad Naseer, from the Sarai Alamgir police who is investigating the case, told dpa on Monday.

Naseer said that they had visited the crime scene and collected evidence.

“We are searching for the girl who allegedly shot her younger sister,” he said.

The incident is not the first time when a young individual lost their life while recording on TikTok.

Pakistani authorities have tried to regulate the platform and have repeatedly banned the widely used platform due to concerns about inappropriate content. – dpa
