It looks like Twitch has competition. Soon, Discord users will be able to stream gaming sessions directly from their Xbox console.
Gamers might be interested to hear that Discord has announced a new feature that will allow users of Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles to stream their games directly to Discord. This is billed as the next step in a long-standing partnership between the social platform and the console brand.
While the platform has not announced when the option will be available to all users, members of the Xbox Insider program already have the privilege of testing this new option. Simply select "Stream to a Discord Server" or "Stream to a DM" in order to stream live video game play to a server or a direct message. According to a Discord blog post, this new feature was one of the most requested by the platform's users.
Users of Discord Nitro, a subscription offering members additional benefits, will enjoy better streaming quality, reaching 1080p, in contrast to Discord's free users. "Today, Xbox Insiders can enjoy one of the most anticipated Discord features on consoles by streaming their Xbox gameplay to their Discord friends.... Nitro members can even utilize the sweet streaming perks provided by their subscription and Stream to Discord in HD quality, up to 1080p and increased framerates," the blog post reads.
In September 2022, Discord had already rolled out features enabling users to chat with friends from their Xbox console. Discord fans can also stream video games from PCs and mobiles. Many gamers already use Discord to chat with their gaming partners during a session. – AFP Relaxnews
