What if artificial intelligence allowed first responders to arrive at the scene of an accident more quickly? This is the challenge that the municipality of Bad Hersfeld, in Germany, is seeking to address by launching a system that automatically regulates traffic by taking direct control of the town’s traffic lights.

The German town of Bad Hersfeld is seeking to let artificial intelligence take control of its traffic light network in emergency situations. The idea is to enable the relevant services to get around as quickly as possible and to get to the scene of an accident within 10 minutes.
